“Having been diagnosed with osteoporosis, I joined Kelsey’s Functional Strength class last year with the goal of maintaining bone density. But I am achieving so much more! With these classes, I’ve learned that the body’s stabilizing muscles play a critically beneficial role in daily activity, and I am using these muscles more, as I gain strength with a moderate amount of regular exercise.

The classes plus the at-home exercises focus on correct posture, balance, as well as strengthening all muscle groups (core, glutes, chest, arms, hips, quads, lats, to name a few). And although these are small group classes, Kelsey presents options so that students may consume the exercises at their individual level —building up from there. She meets us with whatever body we arrive with on that day! For me, one significant benefit of having joined these classes is gaining ‘awareness.’ One example: as I go about my daily activities, I now think about whether I’m positioned correctly to protect my lower back.

Kelsey’s special brand of professionalism mixing constructive guidance with cheerful positivity makes me look forward to class every week!”
