Kelsey Hoogeboom,
Hi! Welcome to High Tree Wellness, my name is Kelsey Hoogeboom. I was born and raised in Ashland, MA and have an affinity to the Metrowest community. Believe me when I say I wish I could change the world but that is a lofty and overwhelming goal, so I shifted perspective to thinking maybe I can affect change in my own small corner of it through movement.
Movement and the ability to use your body in whatever capacity it is capable of is freeing. It can provide independence, joy, and meaning.
Movement has been a part of my life since I was very small. I grew up with parents that made physical movement and wellness a priority, not only for health maintenance but also for the joy of having the capacity to participate in the life you want to live. I participated in hockey, lacrosse, dance, skiing, hiking, swimming, and just generally spending most days exploring the woods outside my home and biking in my cul-de-sac. I attended Quinnipiac University to study physical therapy. While in college I participated on the Division 1 Girls’ Hockey Team which afforded me the ability to work with strength and conditioning coaches to learn optimal training strategies that created the foundation of a lot of the classes I teach today. Additionally, I completed a 200 hour yoga teacher certification at West Hartford Yoga. I received my Bachelors of Science degree, followed by my Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree at Quinnipiac University (2007-2013). My doctoral degree in physical therapy, combined with my 12+ years of experience, empower me with a unique perspective on body mechanics and functional movement. My love and participation in moving my body my whole life gives me an experiential application along with the theoretical and analytical understanding.
